...and yes, this audio isn't just an answer, it's a discussion of why we answer the way we do.
SLR silver - the storage question
Thank you for asking—this is a serious and important question, and it deserves a properly considered answer.
We're often asked a key question...
"Where is the silver stored that backs SLRs"
Here's our response.
We take very seriously the responsibility of safeguarding the physical silver that backs every SLR in circulation.
Naturally, we don’t broadcast storage locations publicly for the same reason a bank doesn't publish the street address of its vaults. The security of our system depends on discretion, discipline, and respect for the trust placed in us.
That said, we fully understand this is a central concern for anyone considering using Silver Liberty Reserves, and we address it in detail with all SLR buyers in private, transparent conversations.
Here are the facts:
- A working redemption float of approximately 100 ounces (currently) is maintained and accessible by COINSHOP staff, at 3 ‘office’ locations, to fulfill daily redemption requests promptly and smoothly.
Sub-fact ... these are our personal address locations... so they carry even more gravity for us than they could for anyone else.
- The remainder of the physical silver is securely vaulted with a commercial storage provider in Melbourne's CBD, under direct access and control of COINSHOP.
- As new SLRs are issued, the physical silver that backs them is allocated and stored accordingly (decision made daily), with a balance struck between short-term liquidity and long-term vault security—always managed day-by-day to reflect current redemption patterns and user needs.
This isn’t a one-line answer because what we've built isn't a one-dimensional system. It’s a carefully balanced infrastructure grounded in physical silver and long-term integrity.
We welcome private, secure, and independent discussions with interested parties, and we encourage you to take your time exploring SLRs. We're here when you're ready, and happy to share more in a manner that suits your exploration.
Regards
